ntoskrnl.exe

Question

Windows error message with ntoskrnl.exe.

Cause

This issue can be caused by a corrupt, improperly configured, or missing boot.ini.

Answer

If any disk drives were recently added/removed, the boot.ini was modified, something was recently changed it is possible that your boot.ini is no longer setup properly or corrupted. Verify that the boot.ini is correctly configured.
To view, modify, or add the boot.ini file either boot from a bootable set of floppy diskettes for your operating system or if you are running Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP enter the computer through the recovery console.
If the boot.ini file is found and contains no errors this issue can also be resolved on computers running Windows 2000 or Windows XP by running chkdsk /r in the recovery console. See the chkdsk command page for additional information and help with this command.
